Job Description

We are planning to open a small, authentic Japanese restaurant in Böblingen, Germany—just about 40 minutes by car from Stuttgart. While the restaurant is currently under preparation, we are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable sushi chef who can handle sushi preparation, manage the sushi bar, and provide excellent service to our guests ahead of our grand opening.

Requirements

[Required Skills & Qualifications] ● Sushi Preparation Skills - Comprehensive knowledge of all stages of sushi preparation, including fish cleaning and handling, rolling and nigiri techniques, as well as kitchen hygiene and sanitation management. - Experience with both Edomae-style and modern sushi plating techniques. - Ability to incorporate Japanese and Western elements into creative food styling. ● Customer Service Skills Polite and professional interaction with guests is essential. ● Language Skills English: From basic to advanced (must be able to understand instructions; fluency is a strong advantage). German: A2 level or above (for basic communication within the team). ●Flexibility and ability to adjust to new environments Ability to adjust to living and working in Germany, and flexibility to rotate between different workstations (sushi station, ramen station, and rice bowl station). [Preferred but Not Required] ● Any formal culinary certifications, especially those related to sushi preparation or training completion.
