Successful Hiring Tips

To ensure a smooth hiring process and secure top Washoku talent, we recommend the following best practices.

A Mutual Selection Mindset

Remember that candidates are evaluating your offer just as much as you are evaluating them. If applicants feel uncertain, it can lead to declined offers or other issues.

Set Clear Expectations

Clearly state the expected hiring timeline; available support such as visa sponsorship, housing/relocation assistance, insurance, and paid holidays; and compensation and bonus structures. Transparency builds trust and attracts more applicants.

Communicate Proactively

Respond to inquiries quickly and keep in regular contact throughout the process. Delays may cause candidates to feel uncertain and decline your offer.

Cultural Sensitivity: Japanese Modesty

Japanese candidates may understate their language ability. “I don’t speak English” may mean they genuinely cannot, are simply being modest, or can hold a conversation but aren’t fluent. Please assess language proficiency directly during the interview.
